If someone deeply loves someone else platonically or romantically, and the love isn't replicated, or they think it isn't, they will acquire hanahaki disease. Flowers will start to encase the heart and esophagus, causing the afflicted to throw up flower petals. There are five stages to this illness, each riskier than the next.

Five stages, five flowers, five boys.

Platonic, or romantic, these five boys will be directly involved with hanahaki.

One ~ Jae | Tulip - One-Sided Love

Even just thinking about this morning makes you feel sick. But you couldn't linger on that. Jae would be heading up to your apartment to pick you up for brunch with your old college group. He can't find you like this.

Two ~ Dowoon | Yellow Crysanthemum - Loneliness

He takes another sip of his drink, feeling the alcohol burn a lot harsher than it should. Did he scrape his throat or something? Maybe this is a sign he should stop drinking for tonight. He sighs aloud to no one in particular and asks for a check from a passing waitress.

Three ~ Wonpil | Daffodil - Unrequited Love

"Do you need any help, Younghyun?" Wonpil waits eagerly for an answer, but Younghyun smiles a little distractedly.

"Nah. Thanks, Pillie, but I gotta go."

Four ~ Sungjin | Cyclamen - Separation

Sungjin and Jae get into an argument, and Sungjin is worried Jae hates him now.

Five ~ Younghyun | Purple Lilacs - First Love

Younghyun fake-dates a fellow uni student to get her parents off her back, but she starts to fall for him.
