Groups that are talented but are "bland" (2 Viewers)

A lot of groups, if I can't get into the members or the team dynamics despite their music being good and the idols being skilled obviously, I can't really get invested.
A bunch of bgs have this problem with me but I probably wouldn't have stanned them in the first place so it's not fair to name them lol.

But there are a few ggs too lol.

Personality isn't exactly being funny y'know!

You can still pinpoint each members concept really well in all those groups without there being overlap. Each member is interesting in her own way and brings something new and different to the group. No member makes me go, why are they here

BP is funny when they aren't being told to act cutely. I'm not gonna say who but there's a couple members who make me want to rip out my hair when they act cute. like babe, i love you as you are, stop trying to be cute if it doesnt come naturally to you.
red velvet is funny when they're comfortable, sometimes they seem kinda bored tho.

I agree they aren't the most dance heavy group, music show performances from them aren't really my favourites. Their concert performances though are on a whole another level from like 99,99% of groups. Music show performances are basically all about the dancing. CONCERT performances are more about fan interaction, the vocals and stage presence. THAT EXO can do.

Honestly for me: every group but Gfriend and Mamamoo. Fromis too but they live in a dungeon. Big 3 in particular is just filled with introverts idgi. Red Velvet is a weird group. I don't consider myself a stan because I don't connect with the members but the interesting ones (Wendy, Irene, Yeri) are the ones I'm not interested in

As for the ones being too concerned with being pretty, most 4th gen groups I've seen so far.

Yeee this thread was entirely targeted at 4th gen groups atm.
My ass is an EXO stan, just bcs they are bad at variety and/or introverts isn't what I am talking about.

Like just.... I am more trying to say that a lot of idols (Not the groups, but the members in the groups) have unclear and overlapping concepts and images.
I don't even stan Red Velvet and just casually keep an eye on them. Despite that I can already see what their main image is and how they differ from each other. With a lot of newer groups I've found that it is a lot harder to assign these concepts to the members. They are somehow a lot less recognizable.

With RV it took very little to get to know the MAIN vibe and concept of the members

Irene is the expensive, cold, pretty girl
Seulgi is the all rounder goofball
Wendy is the Main Vocal of Main vocals who is really sweet
Joy is the sexy tall one
Yeri is the cheeky social butterfly

I barely follow RV beyond their songs but it's easy to pick all that up from just looking into them a bit. A lot of this you can even get from their MVs.
All the descriptions I gave for the RV girls are really really generic. No inside jokes were used etc and basically anybody who knows RV even a bit will be able to recognize the members from just that.

Meanwhile there are a lot of groups with which I have looked into deeper than Red Velvet and would seriously struggle to give characterizations like this.

CLC: I love them and the members are so talented but they don't really have "star quality," unfortunately. Only Yeeun does but CUBE didn't use her to her full potential as an up and coming IT girl. Their concepts are amazing. I love their girl crush songs like Hobgoblin but they don't have enough stan attraction for the hype to stick.
