Everyone else is slightly younger or significantly older.

Younger. Many people in my age (in their 40s) seem to be already mummified - especially regarding their 'lifestyle'.

Well my best friends atm are all younger.

in grade to high school it was pretty much only ppl in my grade and crazily enough most of us had sisters 2 years younger who were also friends.

Probably both extremes? One of my friend groups, I am young enough that everyone else could be my parent. I'm good friends with the daughters of one of the married couples in the group too.

In another friend group, I'm the oldest by 6-8 years.

I think, after a certain point, you tend to befriend people who are in the same life space as you. Like all my friends are childless or have grown/mostly grown children. It's different from my cousin with a 1-year-old, and all her friends are new-ish moms too.
