According to News1's investigation on the 14th, Tzuyu has agreed not to renew her contract with her agency, JYP Entertainment. However, TWICE plans to continue their full group activities.

Tzuyu debuted in 2015 as a member of the girl group TWICE. TWICE rose to fame as a 'national girl group' by releasing songs like 'Gracefully,' 'Cheer Up,' and 'TT,' while Tzuyu was greatly loved as the team's lead dancer and visual line member.

Additionally, Tzuyu debuted as a solo singer in 2024 by releasing her first solo mini-album 'About Tzu' (abouTZU), and has showcased her musical talent by participating in writing lyrics for her own solo song with TWICE.

In a short statement to media outlet Maeil Kyungje, JYP Entertainment made their first statement on TWICE’s contract renewals.

Previously, it was shared by media outlet News1 that Tzuyu decided to not renew her contract with JYP Entertainment. With JYP Entertainment now in the second round of contract renewals with TWICE following their first renewal in July 2022, attention is being paid to whether the members will continue alongside JYP Entertainment or move to new agencies while continue group promotions as TWICE.

TWICE‘s Tzuyu will reportedly be leaving JYP Entertainment after 11 years with the company.

According to an exclusive report from News1, Tzuyu has recently decided to not renew her contract with JYP Entertainment. However, even though she would not renew her contract, she is expected to continue participating in TWICE’s group activities.

Back in July 2022, the group renewed their contracts for the first time. Recent news outlets have stated that JYP Entertainment has had more concerns with the group’s second round of renewals, with pressure on the company due to the agency’s next-gen girl groups not producing as much growth as expected.

JYP Entertainment has not yet commented on News1’s report.

I don't think any member will leave TWICE - that's just stupid

she (if she is leaving) is basically doing what Wendy/Yeri plus the members of BP are doing now the question will be:

1. is she leaving JYPE for only group activities aka she is still in JYPE for group (twice) activities and her solo activities will be whatever she is doing herself

OR

2. she is leaving JYPE entirely for both group and solo activities but she will remain in twice (the group) aka some of the SNSD members

I'm probably the only one happy about this. For her safety and sanity I think this is best for her. It makes the most sense given the direction JYP has taken his business choices. I'll always love her and root for her!

She will not renew her contract with JYP apparently but will still participate in Twice. This is happening a lot more recently. Mamamoo operates like this. The members of Kep1er have several different companies they are signed to but still are part of kep1er. Yujin recently signed with a new company and has already gotten a lot of modeling opportunities.

This has also been used as a way to let fans down easily. If she will still be part of Twice or if this is just a letting fans adjust in a less hurtful way.

Will probably become more apparent with what she chooses to do if this does come true as I'm not sure exactly what route post Twice she'd take but really unless she was reckless with her money she can probably do whatever she wants almost. To me the break seems more of time to plan for the future with this news now as Twice has been pretty group forward and now they either keep active without Tzuyu or focus on sub-unit and solo activities then arranging comebacks.
