Throughout the 1st and 2nd Gen you did have the occasional person below 16, usually only one or maybe two in a few groups. BoA debuted at 14. Off the top of my head so did Taemin, Krystal, and I believe Hyuna. Sulli, Amber ( f(x) ) and Minzy (2NE1) were 15. But heck Dara and Bom were 25! I can't imagine that happening in the 4th Gen.....So there always young idols but within the same group there would often be large age gaps, but 4th Gen is increasingly debuting young groups all around it seems.

Well if the rookies currently revealed all debut in NCT there will be a 26 year old, though thats more unusual in gen 4 I agree with that. But tbh I also think large age gaps in groups aren't good either imo. I feel like if they're all adults or all minors/barely adults it's more okay than what 2nd and maybe 3rd gen had going on (though ofc all minors is problematic in it's own way).

not really i was snsd fx kara wg ect. fx had 2 14 year olds.
New jeans blew up and they are all super young kpop/ entertainment is a bunch of sheep so expect more.

I don't like how it appears that they are going with a girl boss / girl crush concept (honestly when has YG ever not done that with a gg) rather than a more age appropriate concept considering their ages considering it looks like only one of them will be 18 at debut.

If I was the CEO and had to market this group I would want a more modern updated concept of something like Mr Bang Bang by Dalshabet. I think a concept where they are "trying to be fierce" but screw up and act cute would be a refreshing concept choice in K-Pop at this moment and would allow them to gradually shift to a proper girl crush concept because they "have learned" through each new release once they are are adults.

I generally agree with not liking large minor-adult age gaps in a group. Depending on the concept a balance can be struck between age appropriate songs and performances for both the adults and minors. However on a social level I wouldn't prefer a early to mid teenager being co-workers with someone in their mid to late twenties. Though many groups with these age gaps seems to have healthy relationships (at least from what is known publicly).

*My ideal idol group ages would be everyone is 18-22 in the debut year. So essentially college age.

YG with the old swag stick lol! I think girl crush is diverse enough to be age appropriate. However YG's usual formula for me is kind of played out and can sometimes come off as too try hard. The other popular 4th GG are all trying new spins on old formulas and have strong unique images and sounds. Plus BP totally dominates let's say the classical girl crush lane, so I hope YG at least tries something different with this group.
