I'm not saying pokemon (or pokemon cards) aren't cute but like I could see any idol getting into those two things (barbies and plushies) but not pokemon cards

as evident by the many idols that collect them now, you can see that your assumption was not correct!

also many idols have displayed all kind of different interests, it's not that surprising. Like if you see Mina at a gala event, you would probably not expect that she goes to hotel room afterwards and plays zelda for the rest of the evening!

the question is why no though? pokemon cards have been around long than a lot of idol groups especially the 5ht, 4th, 3rd and even 2nd generations

I can accept that however this is something recent that they've picked up on which is perfectly fine as a hobby/interest but I just don't didn't see them getting into it

with your mina example - mina has always been a gamer and lego fan since like debut???? it's not a hobby she's suddenly picked up on compared to the likes of Nayeon/Momo/Liz/Leeseo etc etc those people gave no indication of them liking pokemon cards until recently (but again it's not a negative thing - it's just not something I would have foreseen them being interested in)

If this increased attention influenced Momo is not known, but it's possible. Regardless of what triggered it, Momo's stunt with destroying that plastic shell of her suicune card caused of lot buzz online and since then all the other idols came for.

You missed my point with Mina... I meant if you don't know Mina and just judge her by her looks, you would not assume those things of her. That is the same now with not assuming Momo/Nayeon/Jisoo or whoever would be into this kind of thing. My point in the end is, you can't judge a book by it's cover or what a person likes

I've heard the same things that some people are using pokemon cards for investment and speculation and not the actual pokemon cards themselves - I used to collect and play with pokemon cards because I actually enjoyed playing with them just as I watched the anime and played the pokemon games themselves.

I'm not judging any idol nor their hobbies - they can do whatever they want. I merely said I was surprised they picked up this particular hobby (pokemon cards) since based on their prior actions and personalities I would not have envisaged them doing it. This isn't judging btw - it's not anything negative on them.
