I hope it doesn't come to it but I would not blame him either, he always seem super happy and proud of every cb but I wonder that now after the musical he'll have a different perspective, that maybe his talent is better put somewhere else. Pledis has one of the most talented idols of this gen in a very popular group yet they keep undermining him. It makes me worried for his future, they're pretty much setting him up for failure by preventing him from getting any clout or attention, maybe it would be better for him longterm to be solo now, as shitty as that would be.

Punishment for a solo activity is exactly what it feels like. I've come to expect this kind of bullshit from Pledis but what hurts me the most is seeing a bunch of carats supporting their decision like it's a good thing, I wonder how many of them even realize DK exists or if they do if they even give a shit about him, they're more than happy to see him thrown to the side under the guise of being concerned for him. And worst of all this isn't new at all, there's always been a part of the fandom who always complained about him getting the most lines. I've said it before in OH but according to most carats he's not the most good looking(That's Hip Hop unit + Jeonghan & Jun), he's not the funniest(That's Hoshi & Seungkwan), not the best dancer, etc all his got is his voice, and now they're not even letting use that.

But honestly, this is so weird! Even when I try to put my bias aside, and focus on being objective, I genuinely see him as the best in all those categories you mentioned! Ok, not THE best dancer, but sure as hell among the best! He absolutely nails it as a center, and I don't know anyone with better expressions on stage. Not to mention his energy and stamina and lack of errors. He's a beast, and that's a fact.

Reason why general Carats don't see that is mostly cause his type of visual is not appealing to young Carat population - he's not a flower boy, and I'm well aware of that. Notice how every time his looks are praised it's cause he has the 'actor look'. On the other hand, he can't play up the 'manly' role to the max cause he isn't buff, and he hasn't shown much interest in being the muscle guy of SVT. So, visually, he's somewhere in a limbo, appealing mostly to the (sadly) niche group of people who love his sharp face and unique body shape (elegant arms and hands, slightly sloped shoulders, wide hips and thick thighs). If you try to find another male idol with a physique like DK - you'll fail. So he isn't a manly man, nor he is a flower boy. He's funny and loud, but also shy and sensitive. He makes a fool of himself so everyone alse can laugh, but he's also the guy who loves going alone to the movies and restaurants, and gets quiet when hurt. He's a perfectionist who's insanely strict towards himself, but often looks like a carefree child. He's a complex human, but what most fans seek is something simple. An archetype, a fantasy out of which a fanfic can easily be written. No one can write DK, I know cause I read them all.

He really does have a complex image both physically & personality wise yet he's always written off as the funny one who does high notes by carats while Pledis isn't willing to find a style that works for him to stand out, they either try to make him a flower boy or just let him blend in the background. He's one of those idols who really don't fit in a generic idol style, I think so far Very Nice was the best for him, it had a quirkiness without being straight up flower boy territory in a way that suited the brighter side of his personality with the right amount of sexiness that let his sharp features shine. As shitty as it is to say he would really benefit being in either a smaller group or being solo so he could have attention that would allow him to be as complex as he is but still appreciated.

Can you imagine that being written about any other member and getting this much support? What the hell!
When people complained about Junhao or Dino's lack of lines/screentime - everyone agreed, as they should,
but DK getting nothing at all is 'fine', because 'other members get to shine'???
As if his nonexistance in other MVs somehow blocked other members from shining? What kind of unlogic is that?

pledis should have promoted seokmin's musical debut and they didn't. their first artist to star in a musical, you'd think they would hype him up somehow but all they did was retweet EMKs posts and share some links that no one really cared about. 99% of the content we got was from his co-stars (im eternally grateful for them ;-;),, it makes me wonder if god-forbid they're gonna handle minhyun's musical the same way or if they just used seokmin to test the waters

I really think that they didn't want him to get any ideas about going solo, between wanting to starting using Pledis YT channel instead of SVT's & trademarking the name & their choreos I believe this is another tactic to get them under a tight leash.
