It took six years of extremely hard work.

Hardships from the usual lack of sleep, crap nutrition, ankles being injured and operated on, throat surgery awaiting Onew in the following year due to his current state when this award was won, multiple members with swine flu, a car accident and facial surgery to correct the nose injury received by Jonghyun, a dating scandal that wasn't really a scandal at all but made a horrendous impact on Jonghyun due to shitty people, sasaengs, wretched rumors, and much more, sprinkled with so many great things happening to the young men too.

And even after standing on stage through all those years of hard work and efforts, they still refused to believe they deserved it.

Here is to SHINee's single Daesang - an achievement, in my mind, that means so much more than multiple Daesang wins and trophies under one's belt. Here is to the humble five men that, no matter the obstacles in their lives and careers, they push forward, together, forever as five.

I honestly cried in that Melon Artist of the Year award. SHINee is technically my #2 bias group behind SNSD but I didn't feel as emotional during SNSD's GDA Physical Daesang because I was so new to KPOP back then, but when SHINee won it I was fully immersed and couldn't help but to cry tears of joy for them.

Also a random performance that I love for the trainwreck that it was (Jonghyun choking on the mic foam thing and their overall tiredness) but Minho and Key pulled through in handling the chorus:
