I dunno what to think of plus size models.
On one hand I appreciate their confidence & their choice to love their bodies.
On the other hand, they make it seem like obesity is okay. Well it's not. Ofc you get a pass if you suffer from endrocrine disorders & what not dat cause obesity but it's not okay if you're not taking care of yourself. Don't u think?

Difficult to say.. Most of the top plus size models are bigger but they also are put together and have healthy life styles, so there not you typical run of the mill obesity cases so to speak..

Also in the modelling world anything above a size 8 is weirdly considered plus size, but varies from country.. For UK its size 12 and up (I think)

I'm personally fine with plus size models like Ashley Graham, Candice huffine and iskra lawerence.. Visually and they have active healthy lifestyles as far as I know

However tess holiday visually is where I draw the line, however if she is in good health like the rest there's not much I can say about it. She aware of her weight and very fine with it and I can respect that.

Although people tend to look at image and most will assume they some plus models are promoting unhealthy life styles which is not always the case however I can see how it can seem promote obesity especially when some people look at these women on image alone and think 'oh she's big but she a model so I must be fine!' but then don't proceed to actively check on their health

They're not "promoting obesity" theyre just coming out with their body how it normally looks
men are allowed to look how they look without being accused of "promoting obesity" and i look forward to the day when women can enjoy that same right

plus sized women need clothes and makeup too and its better if its modeled by someone who looks like them

Literally normal people would be considered plus size compared to anorexic ass models
both extremes are unhealthy
but honestly i don't see why anyone should have a problem with it and not soooo many other things
have a problem with this and not only should you take issue with how skinny other models are but also the fact that 99% of things advertised everywhere
are pretty unhealthy
fast food
beer
gas chugging vehicles
wasteful sweatshop clothing brands(like high fashion brands themselves)
literally the biggest brands on earth

As people said, they aren't promoting it just by existing.
We all pretend like being obese is the only unhealthy lifestyle while many of us probably don't have very healthy lifestyles.
This! Not to mention metabolisms are extremely different as well. You can be extremely skinny and eat WAY too much (like moi), and be overweight and hardly eat at all and exercise.

They are confident and like the skin they're in.
Nothing wrong with that.

Promoting obesity I wouldn't think so.

Plus size is beautiful, just like any body type.
you are who you are at the end of the day.

I, personally, think that while you might have a point.. However, there are far more insidious glamorization of obesity, such as those youtubers who use Mukbangs to test how much they can eat in one sitting and continue to do so, because of the kickbacks and support they get for doing it.. Even the concept of a mukbang without overeating is problematic and borderline toxic.
Obviously :pandaannoyed: tess holiday is a monster
I always get her confused with Chrissy Metz...

A lot of them yes. Some legit are trying to make a change for the better for people who are big and have been big though no fault of their own. I just want to say I am all for plus size models that promote an active healthy life style. Most of the population is not at model size.

However there are some who, while being plus size models, shove the ideals forth of accepting an unhealthy life style. They've become to toxic with the idea eat what I want, exercise however - if I want. Claiming anything aimed at them is fatphobic in some way. Amusingly enough these woman that claim they are fat shamed and then go on shame skinny woman. They flaunt a really horrible life style while pretending nothing is wrong with it. Literally there is a model who claims it's fat shaming if you ask for a smaller slice of cake at a party. If you ask me morbidly obese woman are lucky, unlike under weight woman they will not forceably get tossed in a hospital till they loose weight.

It's bad to be underweight, and it's just as bad to be obese. It's bad to have under weight models, and it's bad to have morbidly obese models.

Now I am fat, I am let myself go, not eating right fat. My aunt was huge but she ate right worked recycling steel, and could take a flight of stairs fast unwinded. Only time she lost 20lbs is when she had breast cancer and they had to remove one of her boulders. So I understand both sides of the coin.

While I do think modelling is partly responsible for how focused on looks the world has become however I don't think changing models sizes is going to solve that.

For some women this is as thin as they are gonna get and the same can be said for thin models being as big as someone is gonna get.

Therefore there should be various models to promote various healthy body sizes so that those who can't achieve one can still see a goal for looking good and not feel like it means they're hideous.

any sized model just wants to promote the clothes and the brand they are doing this for.
curves are amating and if a designer wants those kinds of models in their show so be it.

I don't think it promotes obesity, in case of some models maybe it can be said it normalizes obesity though? But I think it's better to accept that people have different sizes- and people of different sizes need clothing to cover their naked bodies and maybe they will have better idea what clothing to buy if it's modeled by people who look like them. I think having models of different sizes is better than having just one size of models, cause that is not reality and promoting just one size fits all is unhealty as well.
