but they opened the doors for kpop acts to perform in the us this year. after seeing how successful their north american tour was, other groups besides bts decided to do concerts in the us too. i would say that’s a pretty big achievement especially considering their overall lack of promotions in the west. every group has weaker eras and stronger ones. i’m sure for their next one, the girls will do great. RBB as an album did pretty good on the charts tho. people just didn’t like the title track is all. sm invested a lot in them and it would be pretty stupid if sm just gives up on them after one era that wasn’t even planned well.
The touring stuff is nice but this is the second train wreck era, digital sales wise.
At least there was a compelling thought /plan behind the velvet and OOTN.
RBB had none of that, and the song is not pleasant to listen too with all the screaming.
It is rumored that the cb was supposed to be in Oct, not sure how much that would have helped.
It frustrates me that twice RV has had solid momentum and sm has blown it up at exactly the worst time.
Then sat on a cb for an extra long time as the earth shifts under them.
Just as an example Iz one has had 3 cb and sold ~800k albums in those 5 months.
Its a super weird year. May is a very unusual cb time for sm acts to begin with. Japan releases seem strangely thought out and they still do not have a full J album. This with touring like crazy in Japan seems so odd.
I know SM is different with having individual schedules for all the members for years now which is very different from most of the other groups.
This style of promoting (aka yoyo/ boom bust) is putting enormous strain on the members.
