Update: Seungri Booked On Charges Of Allegedly Violating Anti-Prostitution Law

Seungri has been booked on charges of violating the law on the punishment of prostitution mediation and other related actions. He will now be treated as a suspect in future investigations.

A source from the police stated, “We booked Seungri and changed his status to that of a suspect in order to issue a search and seizure warrant and clear [Seungri] of the suspicions [surrounding him].”

The police has also booked three to four other people who were in the KakaoTalk group chat and are currently investigating them.

Meanwhile, the police began searching Club Arena at 11 a.m. on March 10 and ended their search at 2 p.m. KST. It was reported that they obtained data related to the charges made on Seungri about providing sexual escort services to foreign investors, but no further details have been revealed.

I mean, he's a powerful man, it definitely makes sense that he is able to pull some strings. But to blatantly show it like that is just beyond any form of respect.

More from reddit on the subject;

Lee Seung Hyun (aka 'Seungri') of the boy-band Big Bang has officially been booked and questioned by the police. He is no longer a "potential person of interest" but will be questioned as a suspect.

On March 10th, the Special Crime Squad of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has booked Seungri for violating the Acts on Pimping and Prostitution and its Punishments. The Police is also questioning 3-4 more people implicated in the Kakaotalk that was leaked recently.

Related to this, the Police at 11AM sent 20 investigators to the Arena for a search and seizure, which was finished around 2PM today. The Police is said to have found information surrounding the allegations of pimping in the search.

Previously, the police began internal investigations after the contents of the Kakaotalk were published by the media. Internal investigation (내사) is a step before an official investigation, and if a probable cause is found, it is turned into an investigation, and the person of interest officially becomes a suspect (피의자).

One online media outlet has published Kakaotalk records that is alleged to between Seungri and a Mr. Yoo of Yuri Holdings, where Seungri intended to invest in. In the Kakaotalk, the media alleged that Seungri intended to use his Gangnam clubs to a place of lobbying of different activities and even tried to bribe potential investors with prostitution in December 2015.

In the Kakaotalk records are conversations where Seungri directs his associates to serve foreign investors with prostitution in a club in Gangnam, which was found to be Club Arena.

In relation to this, the police designated Seungri as a person of interest on the 27th of last month and confirmed some facts surrounded the case.

The police was also found to have summoned the people in the Kakaotalk and started investigations as well.

The Police also are investigating Kakaotalk records on prostitution, and found that an informant has sent these records to the Anti-Corruption & Civil Rights Commission (권익위) and has requested co-operation from the Commission.
