At this point i'm expecting this scandal to go all the way cause just when you think it might be calming down it speeds to the next part.
Tbh I doubt he'll be charged, even if he is guilty. They'll somehow keep out of a cell.

I was thinking more him getting taken to court for it since serving jail time would just be the outcome of that verdict and that'll be where they stop it.

I really hope with how bad this has gotten that it fills the quota of the year already
Don't jinx it :llama_shook:

Though for me, this is kinda as bad it can get, I mean it's suspicions now, but it if it cames out to be true and there is guilty conviction, I'm done with kpop.

Can this end already so we can have a blackpink comeback :(
I have bad feeling that this will keep dragging on months and new stuff will come out both Seungri and YG wise still.. Usually court cases can take even years, so.. this can all be extremely exchausting. I'd hope that people are able to seperate these court cases of rest of artist though, it's not like other companies bullshit is being hold against their artists and it shouldn't be either. It'd be better if the media circling would calm around this a bit, since it's not doing any favors here.

I'm pretty sure that Seungris scandal is being used to cover up other scandals going on in Korea so the media are probably being like it on purpose to make sure people only hear about Seungri and not about the other stuff.

It's one thing after the other. Just seeing his name makes my skin crawl now. Seriously, how is it even possible to be this dirty? I hope they just stop stalling and send him and his crew to jail already. Or better yet, just have the journalists get to work and do the police's job because the police are so obviously biased. It's so bloody frustrating to see.

From what I have seen, it's actually the other way around. They're reporting on nonsense news to cover up this Seungri scandal but netizens aren't falling for it this time. Not to mention, esteemed and trusted journalists and investigators are on this case so even with the new stations trying to hide it (Naver for instance), it's going to come out one way or another.

Also right now, this is the biggest scandal in Korea. It's more than just some celebrity pimping girls. It involves corrupt police, prosectors etc. and it's the abuse of power. So Seungri's not even the main point of interest in this case. People are more upset about the police than anything and they want the truth. And rightfully so. People have always joked about YG having power to hide any scandal but now there's news that actual police are involved in such a huge crime scheme and YG's own illegal doings are coming up too. So this is pretty huge right now.

Mm, there has been talks forever how media uses idol scandals to cover up govermental stuff, but it's more of conspiracy theory i think and I'm not really believer in those.

In other hand, it's kinda bit suspicious and annoying how media and journalist seem to hold this scandalous information of idols, not only about criminal stuff, but about dating too (cough dispatch cough) and release it whenever they feel like it. Is it used to cover up stuff, maybe not, but is it being hold and released to public when there is juiciest time to get those clicks and possible ruin someone's life, yea. Like with Park Bom's scandal she smuggled illegal medicine in 2010 and was investigated and trialed back then, but media only released the story in 2014, four years later just after 2NE1's comeback and Park Bom becoming more talked about due to her role in Roommate. I don't quite believe the media only found out about it in 2014, I'm pretty sure they saw chance there and/or YG run out of protection money/got into bad relations with news outlets. For Seungri these alleged Katalks prostitution messages happened in 2015 (almost said 2014, but confirmed it was in 2015) and now again four years later the reporter just happens to get the screenshots? Someone has been holding those screenshots years, waiting for right moment.

And what it comes to crimes and such, especially if there is possible victims, I'd rather see these reporters just give evidence to police so the crimes won't continue to happen and release their articles if they want. I don't see lot of moral highground with withholding info like that especially if you are claiming to be in side of justice (rather than side of yay let's get those clicks and ad revenue).

So I'm not sure if I still buy the cover up conspiracy stuff, but I think journalist for sure withhold the information even years and it's kinda scary on what kind of things they are keeping of different idols, what kind of ways they could ruin their lives (I think there has been talk of dispatch for example having info of two male idols dating and so on, but at least they have said they aren't going to out anyone.. at least for now) and what kind of hush money entertainment companies are paying them. Like kpop is in many ways darker industry than it first seem when you poke around.

While this whole scandal has been going on though there has been like 6 other scandals going on apparently that are also related to corruption or sexual abuse and YG has stocks in Naver so that isn't the most surprising thing.

I think it's the other way around, actually. Naver has shares in YG. From what I can remember they invested like a 100 billion won in purchasing shares, which explains why they're trying so hard to cover up this scandal and protect YG's stocks from falling to an all time low. They're losing millions of dollars right now.

Either way they're linked so what damages one will affect the other, so it's in both of their interests to try and cover it up.

True. But I think Naver would give less of a shit since if it was YG holding shares in their company, they wouldn't be losing any money.

Most articles (international) about Seungri's case do have Naver as source though so I'm not sure if they are really even deleting articles? In terms of english sources, I'm mostly trusting Soompi with this from news outlets, they seem to have quite neutral approach, most of other sites are too sensational for me and have even posted some misinformation or painted speculation as facts. In general I see just lot of sensationalist clickbait behavior and fearmongering in both korean and international media sites which has lead to some misinformation being spread. It doesn't help i have seen some of most trusted media in west making witchhunt of Pewdiepie using the most stupid misinformation as facts (New York Times and Wallstreet Journal), that I have lost recently lot of trust towards journalism in general.

If you’re talking about the SOPA scandal, then that is being investigated as far as I know. And although it’s definitely a serious issue (especially considering it’s sexual assault of minors), it’s not being covered up and a lot of people are aware of it. Especially amongst those that follow entertainment news since it became a huge issue online because so many celebrities went to that school. It’s not something huge that needs to be covered up.

Fans keep trying to dismiss this scandal and keep trying to say its a cover up story for whatever, but it’s literally the biggest non-political scandal to hit the country in years. It doesn’t only involve sexual abuse, rape and assault. It also involves drugs, prostitution and corruption. And now there’s even tax evasion suspicions arising. So it’s a HUGE scandal no matter how much fans try to deny it. This isn’t just some random celebrity dating scandal used to cover up a political issue. This involves powerful figures as well as the law so it is a political issue in itself.

Also, it’s not only Naver that’s trying to cover it up or mediaplaying in favour of YG. Many others news sites are doing it.

There would still be how the public views them since they could be viewed as bad through association which is what happened to WWE with the Saudi stuff.
