Yep even if that's not the intention, it's not surprising with those lyrics for fans to interpret it that way. Atleast his apology seems pretty sincere, I hope he can be more careful in the future.

The suggestive lyrics were probably the main problem and not referencing the members or group itself as of all the girl groups for Ravi to do this with he chooses the one that had the Irene and San E incident where she was clearly uncomfortable with something similar.

Overall this was a dumb thing to do and even in the west this would've probably been called creepy given it being directed at someone who you don't know if there's a connection between them and saying he doesn't know Red Velvet was yikes.

Per him, the song is about the red velvet cake however he wanted to include some word play into the song so he also made some references to the group itself. He totally admits that, it's in an interview. Secondly, the tweet about how he doesn't personally know them but worked with Yeri on a project is trying to suggest that Ravi lied about not knowing them when in fact you can work with someone but still not know them personally, idk why people would think that working with someone means that you have established a friendship with them?

As for the song, anyone who looks at the lyrics can literally read that it's just a loveydovey song about some guy having a crush on another girl that's hard to get. Yeah, the name references are there but they seem to also mean regular words in korean? Otherwise I persoanlly don't see how people are calling this sexual harrassment? The red velvet cake mentioned appears to present love itself, and all the sweets are all components of love.. the dumb dumb references even fits cause that's what the original song is about too.. idk man.

I just wanna mention here, the thing that he was shit talking wasn't the groups themselves but a remix that was used with those songs. The comments he made about these groups were literally taken out of context and made it seem like he was shit talking everything and anything. He genuinely wasn't. The only exception was infinite but even for them, he was talking about their choreographer and not the group itself.

I also want to mention that if you are truly mad at him as a fan of Red Velvet, Ravi is the person to apologize immediately and tries to fix things immediately. All VIXX members are like this. They don't try to play smarter or deny things, they are pretty good about viewing things from the other perspective and apologize. Ravi himself has already shown this, it's not even been 24 hours since his EP was released but he already did everything he could to fix this.

Most rappers or male idols who mess up don't do this. They either ignore the issue or come back more angry.

This. I think this was just a case of poor planning plus not seeing the forest for the trees, in an effort to put in more wordplay they neglected how others might perceive the lyrics but that's all. I don't think there's any ill intent or sexual harassment in this, plus his apology and actions have been very genuine. I hope he can move on from this without fans hounding him about it constantly.

In response to the second part Ravis apology says he talked to Red Velvet and SM beforehand so I assume they considered the lyrics inappropriate as well and he apologised to them and decided to remove the song after that.

I can understand why fans are upset and I don't even blame them for being upset, because for some of them not all, they are imagining the fact that their faves are being sexualized without their knowledge or their consent or both. I would be upset too if I saw someone sexualizing an idol I liked in a song when I was pretty sure they would never have gotten consent to do so.

I don't think he had ill intent by having these lyrics be the way they are, he probably thought it'd be fun to put in references to Red Velvet but he should've known as an idol and producer who has been around a long time how his song sounded. This song no matter how innocent it might be in intention can also have sexual connotations, and straight up you don't use the names or references of other people in a song that could have sexual connotations especially if they're an idol because that's not only possibly damaging to you but also to them.

Mostly stupid on his part and I'm glad he apologized to RV mostly because they're the ones that needed that, not the fans. I think the Reveluvs are justified in being angry but anyone who takes it too far like sending death threats or bullying him etc isn't justified like in all other cases.

When you're an idol it doesn't matter what your intention is, it matters what the public thinks your intention is. Because it's insanely hard to change public opinion especially on a sensitive topic like this, so he needs to be careful in the future and probably never mention another idol in his songs.

For reference though, as Reveluvs and Alices overreacting, Byungchan from VICTON did receive a lot of hate for simply recommending Joy's new song so if you want TOXIC dumb things that fans do there is that

Fans are also known to harass other celebrities as regular people over misunderstandings and sth they see as bad but the artist might not. I wouldn't rly say kpop fans are best entity to judge. Besides most celebrities tell their fans not to fight their battles for them as that usually causs just more harm than good

I think from one translation he said something about purposely referencing Red Velvet's songs so to me it just seems like he was trying o be cheeky with the lyrics. I've seen Reveluvs claim he also used Sooyoung and Yeri in the lyrics which would be a little weird to me but I also am not sure its true.

Unless its a really inappropriate song and the members are uncomfortable with it then I don't see much of a problem with it

It really just seems like he made a dumb mistake tbh. As a fan of rv, the lyrics kind of bother me as well and some of things that he claimed don't make sense? But I really doubt it comes from a place of malice. He's already tried his best to make amends so I think it's fine.
With this one, I feel like fans have the right to be upset, but no one should ever issue threats or anything like that.
