Why Is SM Keeping Joy out of Music Projects? (2 Viewers)

It's pretty safe to say that Irene is down and out as the most popular member in Korea. So that leaves Joy as the popular member in Korea.

So why does it feel like SM is just wasting it?

They keep putting her in acting and variety projects that get low ratings and criticism to her instead of pushing her in music projects where she does receive acclaim. Her not being in the RV unit makes sense but there's no reason why she was excluded both from GOT and the SM album.

Hello was the best performing solo debut of an RV member and it was a remake. She could easily be up there with Nayeon and Jennie if she had her own proper solo album.

Irene stans would be happy with any project they give her atp, and Yeri by far the best actress in the group, so I'd honestly prefer her to keep the push towards acting with a Station here or there.

I think with a proper fleshed out solo, she could at least sell 250k and unless they give her an absolutely terrible song, chart incredibly well.

Even if she isn't objectively the best singer, she has the best in RV imo, so it's sad to see it being wasted

She does have a tone that is loved., and i think she would choose a more marketable song than Wendy and Seulgi did.

The problem is music so that Taeyeon, Wendy Seulgi, and Joy do not sound like they are all releasing the same music.

If that were really her passion, wouldn't she be better at it? Joy is pretty infamous for her acting skills and it's not like it does much for her career, the ratings are usually pretty bad outside of Once Upon A Small Town

It may be about improving herself. Doing all these acting projects, it's a way to improve with each one.

I do think it’s interesting they don’t at least throw a Station song or something at her, since she did so well, but I don’t see her being left out of the other group projects it as so unusual - GOT the beat has two members from each group - Wendy is one of the best female vocalists at SM with Taeyeon and Seulgi is the best female dancer, so you wouldn’t swap either of those for Joy. I like Joy but I don’t think she would add anything further to GOT the beat. As far as the SMtown winter albums, many popular members of other groups haven’t been on the SMtown winter albums either (No Jaehyun from NCT, no Ten from WayV, no Chanyeol from EXO, no Minho from Shinee. Jaehyun and Ten are the only two out of the 9 NCT main vocalists that haven’t shown up on these albums and they’re among the most popular members in their respective groups ).
