generally, it seems so. i dont think its a hard and fast rule, but most ppl arent gonna talk about cutting open live animals like that unless theyre disavowing it or smth. the root vivi = 'alive', which makes it sound pretty gruesome. people promoting it will probably use a gentler sounding word/phrase

I found the word ‘vivisection’ from The Picture of Dorian Gray since I started reading it last night
‘cenotaph’ was from a documentary I watched on YouTube
I read the word ‘quixotic’ in some news article this morning

I had the flu and was in bed writing a 10-page paper on the morality of vivisection, so it was exactly fun. lmao... But the class totally was eye opening when it came to the sordid history of animals in science. I mean the research psychologist who did those attachment studies on monkeys (back in like the 30s) when asked if he cared about them said something like, "I only care about them in so far as they give me results. I have no actual compassion for these creatures."
