Sensitive Would you marry your brother's widow? (1 Viewer)

So based on thots i had in another thread, i wondered would other KS users hypothetically marry their brother's widow? Or best friend's wife? Or girlfriend's sister? Or sibling's spouse? Or cousin's wife/husband/widow?

I dont think i would as they're happily married with almost adult children, but wbu? Would u marry ur brother's wife/sister's husband/widow/best friend's wdow/wifw/widower?

I honestly don't think I would. Unless my brother was married to Seolhyun.

Like Rand said it was a tv show. A really good one. Rains girlfriend died in a car crash and then later he fell in love with her younger sister played by Krystal.

I think i rmbr sth abt krystal being shipped withe her cast mate or sth b4, was it rain? Oh it was on in 2014 n they only kissed(acting on screen, ig), no big deal istm, tho. Dint find any goss abt it.

I think in the older generations and in some cultures the reason people married their brother's widow was so that the young children have a male figure to take care of them and so that the brother's inheritance stays within the family. In today's time, I don't see why we would need something like this to occur for the wellbeing of the children since a single mother is very capable of working and looking after her own children as well. Besides, family members can now more freely look after their nieces/nephews without having to marry their mother. No matter how I think of it, it just doesn't make sense to me. I just don't see why marrying a spouse's sibling is a solution.

To answer your questions though if my husband were to ever die, I would never marry his sibling. After marriage, I believe my husbands siblings will be like my own siblings. To me even the thought of such a possibility is disturbing and unacceptable.

I think this was more commonplace in earlier generations, where you needed a widow to marry someone for financial and family support and usually, it would be your dead spouse's sibling so it stayed within the family.
I know some decades ago, if your wife died, and you had children, you also needed a mom to look after them, and in most cases, that would be your deceased wife's sister or something.

In today's age, I don't see it happening. First of all, the awkwardness and the change in your interpersonal dynamics alone would be a lot to handle. I don't think it would make either person happy.

Unless your brother married his cousin or sister or some other close relative no it's not Alabama.

Personally not me because 1. I am not a lesbian or bi, 2. She looks like our sister and 3 she's delusional. As is all 3 of kids have different tastes in who we date.

my brother is not my brother, he is estranged and since we only recently got into contact, it doesn't feel like he's my brother. but also, I'm pretty sure his boyfriend is gay so a no there lol

but if we were not estranged and his boyfriend was bi/straight/etc. i would not. i see my in laws as my family and it would be quite awkward.

if my brother is estranged and his boyfriend dies, maybe. if the boyfriend and I keep in touch then no. but if we don't stay in touch– i have actually never met him in person, only when I had called my brother and he answered– and we meet again, possibly
