Why don't a lot of ARMYs accept multis? (1 Viewer)

I find this very baffling, since I haven't noticed people of any other fandom saying things like that!

I think the main argument is that BTS should always be the most importnant in your mind for you to be considered an ARMY, which would mean you can't stan other groups, since they wouldn't be the 1st in your mind. I still don't get it since, why does BTS have to be no.1 in your mind? Then people say because you need to vote only for them, but what if I just don't vote?

This is so weird and I really can't understand people who think like that!

Army's are a bit old school in the way they stan BTS which kinda makes sense because BTS is the first kpop group for a lot of them. You remember how intensely you stan your first group. The idea of standing anyone else seems weird at first

The two reasons I can come come up with is

a) All the drama they used to have with other fandoms (mainly with Exo and Big Bang)

b) Especially some of the newer fans are too young to prioritize things and stay objective. If they read somewhere that you should only stan one group, they take it as a very serious rule

Its not exclusive to army's, ive seen it significantly more with vips tbh but that might just be because I was a VIP. Quite a few baby's also feel this way.

The main factor here is the fact that most of them are new/not even interested in exploring more of the sub-genre that is KPop, because they only care about and enjoy BTS. Unfortunately, due to fandom mentality (which happens not just for BTS, but is currently most prevalent for their fandom due to size and popularity, as well as the large amount of Western fans coming in), the fans that don't like multi-fandom fans of BTS likely feel this way because they feel the loyalty is lacking from multi-fans.

Similarly as others in this thread have said, they have had tiffs and issues before with other fandoms (those that are older ARMY and remember the actual fights and not just reoccurring things brought up for no reason/to start drama on either side). Because of this, many have essentially created a barrier and believe that other fandoms look down on them/somehow make them the victims and judge them harshly. Sometimes this holds water, but most of the time it doesn't (for ANY fandom that does this).

The biggest reason though, is that loyalty factor. They probably think "wtf they aren't giving all of their time, fangirling/boying, attention, and money towards BTS, BTS' products, merch, concerts, appearances, etc but are also giving it to other groups, groups with fandoms that are mean to us/belittle us" etc etc.

It's rather unfortunate but it's always happened and always will, now with BTS & ARMY, and later with another group and fandom.
It's the cycle of having people feel possessive over things and people they like, and hating on anyone that likes the same people as well as likes others - the fairness level, so they feel, is not there (because how can anyone split their love between two people or things equally???).

As a disclaimer: I'm only discussing the exclusive ARMY who is against multis.

These "pureblood" fans likely have a superiority complex. They have not explored much of K-pop and are largely ignorant of what other groups are like (which makes their beliefs about BTS being 'better' questionable and extremely prejudiced).

I believe this happened on a smaller scale with other fandoms before.

"Loyalty" is a mentality brought on by K-fans, who don't believe a fan can dedicate the time and money to multiple groups. They constantly frown upon i-fans for their "disloyalty." This may have bled into some ARMYs' mentality.

Some ARMYs are lovely multis though.

I have friends who are only ARMYs and hate on quite a few groups. I find that it's because they've had fan wars with certain fandoms so they hate on the group. They don't seem to mind anyone who hasn't had a fan war with them.

They also refer to multi-stans as kpoppies (I think that's how it's spelt) and not usually in a good way. It's normally the 'kpoppies' who come at them and ARMYs end up retaliating. The more people hate on them online, the more they are going to retaliate. The more they retaliate, the more they get hated on and cycle just repeats.

I also want to say that I have a friend who was a multi but she now only stans BTS (she even hates on groups she used to love) so I don't think it's always because of ignorance.

I agree with the constant cycle of retaliation. It makes the ARMY fandom look worse and worse in the eyes of other Kpop fans, and vice versa.

It's an endless cycle that no one can seem to stop.

It's pretty ironic as well. BTS are looking for world peace but kpop fandoms on twitter can't seem to be peaceful at all.

Well there is a big rift between ARMY's and other Kpop fans since the social media nomination
If you don't know: their first American Award they won (idk the name) required to send out tweets and a very small amount of kpop fans voted on their competition which they saw as a betrayal and most ARMY's are unfriendly towards non-BTS fans ever since then

So I think stanning another group but BTS is seen as a betrayal to them I think?

Well some fans are probably too young and immature xD and maybe too new to kpop. Maybe you got this opinion because army is a bigger fandom so the more the fans, the more the bad fans. Also, lots of armys got into kpop because of BTS and maybe that's their only kpop group

I'm one of the armies with lots of other groups on the list, even if BTS is my first. @Ozymandias come and confirm here's an army with lots of other groups and biases on the list
