I have no idea if i want to spoil myself with performance or should i just wait for subs

Just watch it, it's the best performance on this show yet by far, I mean it's better than most MAMA stages I've seen
They didn't just cover the original tho, added their own style and rap, it's quite something

It is interesting who and how exactly is choosing concept for performance.

AOA. They were using like exact MAMAMOO concept from one of their performances. They mainly forgot their own concept and "have given" it to dancers.
MAMAMOO. MAMAMOO are universal. But their performance concept could be also being just to reproduce AOA concept for "Good Luck". Instead, like people say,
they took two flavours of "sexy concept" (maybe even not AOA-ish flavour), two flavours of rapping, and combined multiple flavours (or, some say, multiple songs) into one.

So, while overall happy, I have mixed feeling about concept choice of contestants performances, also look at Seolhyun from performance 3:50.

MAMAMOO was out of this world. Truly amazing and their energy and charisma is really on a completely different level. AOA was okay, they did Egotistic the exact way I imagined AOA would sing it. Park Bom's performance was meh.

I like performances from all of them- Mamamoo, AOA and Bom. It's rly hard to say which one I prefer, I feel like they all had some good things goes for them and then some I wasn't 100% behind.

Park Bom: I felt as song this one was best. Hann does match Bom's vocals really well and the instrumental remix they made was rly good, I think i even prefer it to original. I heard it's doing rly good on itunes and no wonder. In other hand the performance wasn't perfect, there was some issues with vocals at times (some parts appeared lipsynched too) and bit of awkwardness. Though i did love styling and how the stage was build, direction was good.

AOA: They kept doing what they did last ep, lot of sexy charisma and presence on stage. Women in suits is never bad theme, Seolhyun especially looked stunning. Playing with gender roles was fun and they had big surprise with drag queens coming on stage. I feel like this was pretty balanced as performance.

Mamamoo: They went hardest on performance and bringing something new to it, showing all their individual skills. Solar's sequence was probably my favorite solo one, but I did like Wheein's too. Solar with bow was just too sexy xd In other hand what i didn't like about this one is that what they come up doesn't rly work as song, it's not sth you would listen on it's own- you need the performance to go with it.

I guess i have to go with middle option and say I liked AOA's best, the mix of song and the performance xd

Ofc, it will be interesting next ep to see gidle, lovelyz and oh my girl.

It was just a bad idea to let the fans vote.
Even though the other contestants can vote for the best and worst performances in the end the trainee and fan votes bring in the most points.
So it's just another popularity contest.

No matter how good AOA are, they're lucky when they'll end in fourth place.

I think it's supposed to be popularity contest though like it's not show about vocals, singing or rapping. I think what fans are judging is appeal and that's what makes pop group popular right. Good performance and music is part of that, but not everything.

first that I've noticed was Yuqi's hairstyle from 0:13
hair flip at 2:07
I think this cover had the most difference from original from these three covers
OH MY GIRL
It happened so that OH MY GIRL got song with familiar original concept and of course they've done it well.
Lovelyz
It was challenging choice of song by Lovelyz (If they've chosen it self). For example, original song comes
with what some are calling triple high note (currently I'm trying to understand, in which
Brown Eyed Girls stage it was most amazing). In cover it is 3:36-3:51.
Lovelyz have changed it, OK. Overall I'm happy with Kei and all Lovelyz stage.
It is worrying, that they are in 5th place and chance is that they will end in 6th place this round,
and for two last places in a row there is some penalty by Mnet.
I still hope they will not be in 6th place (Hmm, song was "Sixth sense"), or that penalty isn't too harsh,
girls already suffered without it.

Probably MAMAMOO will overall win this round ?

A bit underwhelming we don't know the final results. I really hope Lovelyz don't get eliminated, they really did very well.

6. Lovelyz - The Sixth Sense

For me Lovelyz did not click with The Sixth Sense and it came across as awkward the same as their performance of Ah-choo because they just aren't pulling off the sexy concept right which is dragging their performances down.


5. (G)I-dle - Fire

(G)I-dles performance did not click for me either as nothing really stood out about it and the changes to the song didn't really help it fit them either with the dance break especially being not for them and ended up making the performance a bit lackluster.


4. Park Bom - Hann

Boms performance of Hann was good but it didn't really have anything to make it pop and stand out like some of the others did however she did a good job and the addition of Cheetah was a nice touch.


3. Mamamoo - Good Luck

Performance wise this was year end performance worthy but I feel like the cover part lacked as the song was disjointed and while I appreciate that they wanted to show their individuality as performers I feel like the execution on what it did to the song could have been handled better.


2. AOA - Egotistic

AOA performed Egotistic really well and the cover of the song was good, they had a pretty big task covering Mamamoo and they definitely succeeded and only get edged out slightly for me.


1. Oh My Girl - Destiny

Oh My Girl took Destiny and really injected their own flare into it with the cover and the performance bringing a new instrumental that worked not only with their performance but the song as well which ended up giving the song a whole new feel that worked with a good performance to match.

Is it just me or do the performances have quite lot of lipsyching going on? I heard people saying that Park Bom's lipsynched parts were awkward, then realized that AOA didn't sing everything live either and now GIDLE had quite large portions lipsynched. It's starting to pull my opinions down on these performances, Mnet can u stop..

Also i'm rly confused why Lovelyz didn't perform Oh my girls song, like wasn't that the mission


Ranking the performances and opinions:

1. AOA- Egotistic: I think this performance was most impressive. AOA come out hard first week, but they went even further this week starting from Jimin's rap to sexy suits and ending up with drag queens. I somehow preferred instrumental of songs to original which helps.

2. Oh My Girl - Destiny: i rly love historical concepts like this, the song isn't most my style i have to admit, but all the dance and rap breaks were great additions. Overall looked beautiful. Only minus is that the song just isn't my type at all

3. G-IDLE- Fire: Another good version of great song, I loved homage to Dara's pineapple hair. But since I can't put help to compare to original- i'm rly used to 2NE1 always performing live they very rarely do lipsynching at all so that was bothering me with some parts i felt like energy was suffering cause of it. Soyeon did slay her parts though, performed it like 2NE1 would.

3. Park Bom- Hann: There was some awkwarness during the performance, but loved the concept and Bom's voice with it, this is the song I will be listening most. Loved what they did to Hann, I rly like Hann as song, but this is better. I would love to hear GIDLE releasing this ver of Hann as well.

5. Mamamoo- Good Luck: Like some others I thought this was too disjointed and instead of making song better the version was worse. It's nice to have individual parts, but to me they lasted too long and I was just hoping them to get back together to perform it- i rly enjoyed the part where they did.

6. Lovelyz- Sixth Sense : It still feels like Lovelyz is cosplaying, the dancing and expressions is on most of time, but their vocals just aren't intense enough for the song it feels like cute girl group trying to perform prettily girl crush group's song which it is. Some things about it were good like the start was amazing, but it just isn't concept and song they can quite pull off.

Overall I find it rly hard to rank the performances though since I don't know what i should go for xd It's not only merit of artist if the instrumental turns out to be good or lackluster, but ofc if I like the song it will influence how i feel about the performance and would i watch it again or not.

I feel like i was bit mean and critical with these- i did enjoy all the performances
