So, I bought Sword and Shield on Saturday since I couldn't get it on Friday, because I had a seizure... But I have been playing it intermitantly since then (because my arm hurts and its hard to do that and plus I'm really busy with Disney+... Wait was that the world's worst pun...).. There's certain things that I don't like about it, but it has been really great thus far. The customization is really cool. Goes leaps and bounds beyond XY...

It seems rather innovative, which is good coming from a Pokemon game, since, well, its a main Pokemon game and has a certain framework to exist within... Anyway, for those of you who are playing it--What are your thoughts? Did you like it?

I feel like a kid playing through my first pokemon game again! While it is still flawed which is understandable give the time constraints, that doesn't stop it from being an amazing time imo! I spent 6 hours just exploring the wild area when I first got there, not even progressing with the story
Kinda sucks that wifi is behind a paywall but what can you do, that's the norm for consoles now

The same with me tbh, I didn't play any Pokémon games since gameboy/gameboy advance era so this was refreshing to me. Maybe it is because it has been so long that it feels extra fresh and new to me and don't have too much of a negative view about it. (I did get the Pokémon Let's Go version last year).

I think a lot of people are mad about the lack of Pokédex, but I honestly think GF had originally a way bigger Pokédex in mind but had to sacrifice a few Mon's to reduce the size and in order to make the game run as smooth as it does. The viewing distance isn't even that bad as some people make it out to be.

I am sure GF now has more of an idea of the limits on their next game though.

You don't get any real conflict till the last hour or two of the main game and the conflict you do get is really really bad.

lol. I got it on release day. I'm currently in between gyms 3 & 4... What I don't like is that there seems to be little in between areas... In XY and ORAS (cause I didn't like S&M) it seemed like there was more routes in between gyms... I do like the challenges in Sword and Shield, but a lot of it seems eh... the team rocket equivilant in Sword & Shield are a lot more tolerable than in S&M, in my opinion.

I've been playing it and beat all the gyms in a few days. It's a lot easier than what ultra sun and moon was imo.
I could be wrong, but I just find it really easy, to the point of saying, where's the challenge anymore in this franchise.

I picked the sooky water type starter too. I always root for the crybaby mon heh

I might buy the digital version now...

Still 400 more to go tho, we'll see what they'll do next.

Who here spends all their money on pokemon sowrd + shield on clothing for their character, besides me?
I mostly rely on pick ups of potions, rather than spend money on it and save the rest for clothes lolol

Well you did say it was fairly easy, so you shouldn't need that many potions. 🤣

Its actually the opposite for me. I got it on release day and because I always [in the past] would look up stuff on bulbapedia in regards to evolutions and what not, it was weird not being able to see stuff like that. lol

I ended up getting the game and finished all the gyms and whatnot. Just doing post game stuff atm.
Story was way too short, but what can you do? sigh. At least the graphics are cute.

@CanadianMAPLE @Somnia What did both of you think of Let's Go in relation to Sword+Shield? Did you like Sword+Shield better?

I recently replayed Lets Go Eevee and Its kept my interest far longer. Perhaps its the world of Kanto, but the fact that I've put almost 50 hours into it is impressive for a Pokemon game. lol
