Do you think TWICE's concept change could have been because of Tzuyu/Chaeyoung? (1 Viewer)

Maybe they always wanted to try more mature stuff but couldn't because Tzuyu and Chaeyoung were still underage and JYP was worried about minors getting sexualized? I think the same thing happened with IZ*ONE, they chose a flowery, girly concept because they had a lot of minors.

The Korean legal age of consent is nineteen, twenty in Korean age. Tzuyu turned 19 (int'l) in June 2018, and Chaeyoung turned 19 in April 2018 - about two weeks after What is Love, their second to last actual cute concept, DTNA. Notice that after they did, they went into this "transitioning stage" - Yes or Yes was their next comeback and it was somewhere between girl crush and cute, and so was Fancy. And then Feel Special happened and now we have these mature, stunning lovely women!

I just think that no one wants to keep doing cute things. Especially as a grown woman. I feel like all members enjoy the concept they do now more than their cuter songs. SNSD didn't stick to their cute songs either. Cute groups are bound to mature.

I feel like that could be a valid reason. Like @MajestYerim said, groups can't always stick to cute concepts and Tzuyu and Chaeyoung becoming adults would have been an appropriate time to start transitioning into a more mature concept ^^

Probably not. SNSD had a similar path. Cute concept is a fool-proof way to gain fandom. Afterwards once you're established, you can move on to other concepts. Some members are close to 30, it would be ridiculous to see them do songs like Signal.

A group is bound to mature as they age, if your 19+(maybe even 18), you dont wanna keep doing cute concepts over and over. I wouldnt blame them for changing the concept up a little bit once they reached legal age. They've been doing cute concepts since debut so🤷

Like others said, it’s a natural progression similar to what Apink did. Fancy and Feel Special still have a Twice sound and for me, Twice has a vibe that makes people happy and cheerful not necessarily cute.

Thats so true.. twice's concept was always cute.. but they still produce music that makes u feel happy and fuzzy on the inside.. unlike main stream girl crush concpets
