I guess if we looked at Japanese sales, Kara would be up there.

Anyway, seeing 1.7 million in a single year is pretty insane, I know it counts all the past albums/singles sold this year too but that jump is still pretty big. Could we see a group break the 2 million mark next year?

Yea SNSD only had TTS in 2012 kinda a Japan solo project year. (IGAB was like jan 1 13) do not think gg can afford to blow a whole year domestically like that....lol and RV just did.

IZ*ONE is not that far behind 1.5 or 6 when we get the chart next month. with a japan album they were on a huge roll this year. 4 albums.
Twice also had a big year ever with folks saying they are done. I am not sure but they may have had even more albums. I remember reading about a bunch of japan albums.

BP just has a stupid amount of fans and the residual sales from new fans on old albums beats entire groups sales. they did catch the wild magic.

Yeah I think Twice sold around 1.2M plus in 2020 alone which is absolutely insane, they've sold more in 2020 than they have in any other year but they weren't even 2nd this time coz BP and IZ*ONE lol.

Covid was good for physical sales for many especially those with an established fanbase. Companies did get creative with more direct interaction also.
