Red Velvet. A group known for their stage presence powerful vocals, diverse discography, and lovable personalities. However, many fans aren't a huge fan of their overall dancing, as a group. Here are my analogies on the dancing on every individual member-

Irene
Along with the opinion with many other Reveluvs opinions', Irene is the second best dancer in the group. With her sharp movements and rhythym, Irene could easily be known for her dancing. However, her main problem? She doesn't seem to try too hard on stage. It's a well known fact that Irene can dance well, however, it appears that she doesn't seem to really try to exert her full potential. Irene also typically keeps a static facial expression, as seen in their brighter stages throughout the entire dance, except for when the camera is on her. Occasionally, it would be understandable, but this seems to very common. Now, this is just a matter of stage presence. As seen in the second gif, Irene's dancing seems to be executed extremely well.
Seulgi
As our main dancer, it's pretty obvious that she deserves the spot. Not only is her stage presence absolutely phenomenal, her moves are very sharp, consistent, and her energy stays consistent throughout the entire performance as well. Now, though I do feel as if people may over-hype her dancing, she is undoubtedly one of the most entertaining dancers to watch. Though her dancing skills may not be similar to Lisa, Momo, or Seungyeon, her stage presence is what makes her stand out. She is able to very easily adapt to the setting and vibe she is trying to give off, and each performance of her tells a different story.
Wendy
For the longest time, many people harshly criticized Wendy for being the "worst dancer in Red Velvet". Of course, during her debut days, she wasn't the strongest dancer, but she certainly wasn't the worst. In my opinion, Wendy is on par with Seulgi in terms of being enjoyable to watch perform. Not only does she have a surprising amount of energy, Wendy's facial expressions are amazing. Though Seulgi has sharper moves, and is overall a better performer, similar to Seulgi, Wendy's joy of being on stage radiates through the screen. Wendy's moves are not very sharp, but her improvement in dancing has been the most drastic improvement I've seen in all of the idols I've watched by far. She went from someone who everyone made fun of, to someone that everyone looked up to. Different from other dancers, Wendy's perseverance and true colors seem to seep through the screen while dancing. She has the second best stage presence in RV, though I will say that if every member exerted their full potential in dancing on stage, Wendy would most likely be on par with Yeri and Joy. As of now, it does appear that Wendy is better in terms of dancing and performing.
Joy
[DISCLAIMER: This is not a hate thread]
As much as I love Joy, her dancing and stage presence really upsets me. Watching her perform is, to put it in simple terms, boring. Her dancing is very static, she doesn't seem to change facial expressions, she moves aren't sharp at all, and she seems tired the entire time. After debut, she was extremely energetic on stage, but it seems that as her time as an idol increases, her stage presence decreases. In fact, what upsets me is not her dancing, it's that she has the potential to do so well, and simply doesn't display what she really happens. It's not fierce nor mysterious to look tired (Hush Special Stage). If she is really tired, then of course, this is a different issue. But this has been going on since late 2016/ early 2017. As surprising as it may seem, I don't dislike Joy at all. She is one of my ultimate biases, and actually remained my UB for the longest time an idol has ever (2 months). Yet, her performing can unfortunately ruin the stage for the other members. The fact that she can dance extremely well, and was the third best dancer in RV, and simply doesn't try (supposedly) is extremely disappointing.
Yeri
Yeri started out pretty strong. Her debut was Red Velvet's breakthrough song. People loved her for her bright personality, strong visuals, and energy. However, similar to Joy, her stage presence crashed up until about Power Up. After Power Up, Yeri, by definition, snapped. Not only did she become a stronger dancer with sharper moves and better rhythm, her stage presence became exceptionally strong (see tour videos 2019), but her singing improved drastically. What was once known as the "talent less member" became a fan favorite. Honestly, I can't say I'm not guilty of saying that she didn't add "talent" to the group. However, I always agreed that her vocal color, age, and personality was essential to RV. Yeri has not only defeated the anti's, but proven them wrong, showing that her addition really did bring much more than talent and vocal color to the group. She's matured to an exceptional point, similar to Wendy. As an idol overall, I have to say Yeri has improved the most. Truly the Nation's Girl.
