Yeah I didn't even bat an eye of a lot of behaviors that I had because I thought ADHD was a lot different. After actually looking into, I realized that it's possible that I have it as well.Yeah, I've done that too but I don't know if it would connect to my ADHD at all. I just know I've forgotten I responded to someone when I did already and more things along those lines. That results in my getting lost in a conversation online or repeating myself too much in person.
I think these online professionals just aren't equipped the way they want people to believe they are-I mean if they were I feel like a lot of misconceptions about an overdiagnosed disorder like ADHD wouldn't be an issue anymore either. But yet we still have a bunch of people thinking it's as simple as "Hi my name is- OH A SQUIRREL!"
Whereas we have so many people thinking OCD is as simple as, "I like to have everything organized and cleanly."
OCD is absolutely NOT being a perfectionist and people really really need to see that. I'm pretty sure most people w OCD don't even need things to be organized or clean, me included. Like I'm a really messy and unorganized person and people are like "but you have OCD" like that's not what it is at all. OCD can be an obsession over ANYTHING, neatness is just one of the many things people can obsess over. and even so, it's not an urge for something to be clean. what classifies OCD is that the person thinks that something bad will happen. So even for people with neatness OCD its more so that if it's not neat, something will happen. I've never had neatness OCD but I have a LOT of other subsets of it so this really frustrates me.
