The unit is prob the nct universe lineup, but at the same time 5 is small for an Nct unit so might be 1 or two others, maybe dreamies (not including mark and haechan) I can’t see them putting someone from wayv there bc winwin hasn’t been removed from 127 officially yet hasn’t promoted with them since joining wayv…
If it’s Japanese unit could also just be Yuta but since 127 is their “main” unit I didn’t think sm would put someone from there in

nct solo idk who but I doubt it would be someone who doesn’t already get solo opportunities, so I’d be surprised if it’s NOT one of Ten, Taeyong, Mark, Doyoung, Jaehyun (he’s so popular that it might be him bc of that and his unofficial thing hitting 1M), and to a lesser possibility yangyang, even lesser sungchan or jeno, and lowest taeil. Maybe chenle or Jisung if Dream doesn’t do much more this year but considering Nct Dream is listed as a concert I doubt it

I don't think it could be the Universe line-up because NCT Dream is touring through most of April - there's not enough time to get 2 weeks of music shows. And the Universe line-up has 4 Dream members.

I think this has to be the Tokyo unit - 3 rookies + Sungchan + Shotaro + 2 new Japanese members. (I'm not convinced it's going to be a 5 member unit nor a unit with only 1 Japanese member. These are possibly a few more main vocalists.) The only other alternative are mini units out of 127, similar to the many units they did out of WayV. This would have made sense last year during the long album wait but seems odd to drop right now.

I agree with you about the soloist options, although I'd move Taeil up. His OST actually has more streams on Melon and charted better than every other member's solo work. It did very very well. I don't think it will be Ten first, IMO. It will be a Korean member. I think SM will continue the tradition of launching a main vocalist first as the solo and I suspect it's really between Doyoung and Jaehyun. (It should be Taeil since he's the backbone of the sound and will be the first to enlist, but I think it will be one of the other two.) I wouldn't be surprised to see two solos this year..

For the subunits and solos - 127 mini-units are interesting, I didn't think of that considering how active 127 is, I doubt it'll happen anytime soon tho, like you said

For Ten, I put him because he has the most solo SM stations out of everyone by far, with most having 0 solo ones and a couple one or two, and was having consistent things to do before being put in a permanent subunit (WayV) and still one of the first NCT members introduced and very prominent in U songs prior to 2020 when all NCT members made appearances on multiple U songs, despite everyone being already part of U. With his solo station Dream in a Dream even being included on the Empathy full group NCT album as a NCT U song. Whereas for example Sungchan and Shotaro (besides Sungchan being an MC) didn't have as much to do, let alone musical releases. While Yangyang is a complete all-rounder with enough charisma to carry solo, and Xiaojun and Kun being good enough with dancing as well as their main vocals to go solo with vocally challenging but not completely ballad songs, I only see him going solo for WayV soon, as he was still doing stuff during WayV's hiatus whereas the others (minus Winwin) were jobless/dungeoned.

For Taeil, since all he did is an OST, and many members have done them, even Haechan who I didn't put as likely to debut solo in April, I don't think he'd be the FIRST to debut solo. I could definitely see him being second or third and releasing purely ballads and only performing on music shows while sitting on a chair/stool or at a piano

From there that's quite a drop to 615K ULs, then it's Jaehyun, Doyoung and Taeyong songs. Doyoung is definitely stronger in Korea than internationally, which makes sense because he's also more popular in Korea than internationally.

Only 2 other songs made it into the top 100 of the Melon chart - Mark at #54 and Haechan at #95. In terms of streams, Mark is ahead of Doyoung but behind him in ULs. Haechan is behind in both. Ten isn't really a contender here.
