SO this actually happened to me
In the streets, trying to strive against death
On top of being poor, hungry, thirsty
Wondering if I will survive and the only answer is maybe.
Wondering if this is my last breath
In the streets running from cops
While they try to make us stop
We are smuggled into another country
Knowing we will never be able to run free
In the plane our mother returns us
And puts us up for adoption
And I learn not to trust
Other homes take us in without an option
In a house with food and water
I wonder if I will become their daughter
But no, they send me away
And went to the next home the next day
I walk into the next home, with a scar from the last
Knowing I will always remember the past
They take me in and consider me their own
And this will always be home
In the court, on March tenth I become a daughter
Full of trust, love, and laughter
Knowing the past but holding on to my friends and family
I can live so happily
In the school, I remember the past
Yes I was abused and confused and it was extremely rude
But know I have friends and family who will love me for the new Mari
But it has made me stronger so don’t feel sorry
