So we are coming to end with this watch party, with last two eps and special which is also named as ep 13. What did you think of the finale and the series overall?

What about the watch club? I think there was some issues as many weren't able to really keep up with it. So honestly I'm not sure what I should improve and change about it or was the timing just inconvenient to lot of people. Not sure. But give me some comments about how to improve if we are still continuing these. Though if we do, I'd like to more commitment of sticking with it as the watch club doesn't rly work if not enough people watch and discuss the show. I get that life gets in a way, but I think we lost too many viewers along the way ^^;

But apart from that, it was nice to organize this for kps and try to bring more anime discussion in the forum, but of revival of anime section that has been quiet recently.

Ep11:

  • We are finally seeing Galassias. Other than Ronaldo. I have been wondering if we even were going to see them.
  • Look into future Avilio.. well I think future is last thing Angelo is looking right now. He’s mentally in pretty bad shape, but I hope he shapes up for the final act. Interesting tease though, how he could even have a future within Galassias if he was looking to have one.
  • Angelo making uncle (i always forgot his name) to add his name in the Angelo’s list is funny. Obviously Angelo is asking him to add the guy officially to his hit list. But the guy is thinking he will prove his innocence to Angelo’s killings like this.
  • Lol, ofc it was Galassias who were mixed into this! But seems like it’s again one of younger guys trying to messu p with Vanettis.
  • ”I think he resents us”. Glass guy keeps being the wisest one. But I wonder what Nero means.
  • It’s funny how everything is coming to circle.
  • Angelo spiraling feels bad. It doesn’t even seem like revenge will be enjoyable for him. Which makes whole thing just feel tragic right now. I hope he shapes up can at least do a decision he’s satisfied with.
  • Eh how in the world they catched him. Or did he let them, I would have thought Angelo could just kill them both.
  • Omg is this guy jealous. Maybe he wanted to be right hand man. But thinking that Nero wouldn’t kill Angelo even if he found out that Angelo killed all his friends? I mean being Angelo Lagusa maybe not over that i’m not sure, but killing his friends? Definitely.
  • Tbh, they let this guy ramble long enough.
  • Angelo wtf. Why? What is the plan now? Side with Vanetti and bring down Galassia? I guess not since Nero’s dad still died and Nero is thinking Angelo killed him, technically didn’t though.
  • Or did Angelo kill Don Galassia cause he realized Vanetti is just their puppet, killing their own brothers, own best friends to please Galassia? And now tried to make Angelo do the same to Vanetti?

EP12:

  • Let’s see what Nero and Angelo will do now.
  • So wtf is this situation now.
  • Is that really why Angelo didn’t kill Nero. I don’t think that’s only reason, he could have let him feel the pain of losing everything and then kill him but he choose not to. Seems like Nero is kinda into killing Angelo now, but I don’t think it will be that easy.
  • Lol ofc he stole his car. This is back to the car trip, just two of them huh.
  • Kinda awkward.
  • Damn Angelo. Nothing left and it was for nothing in the end. Just them both losing all. But if Nero were to take revenge, I guess he would have nothing left either.
  • That was most of emotion we have seen from him.
  • And we are back to this buddy ganster stuff.
  • … Ah. Did they rly decide to end it like that. Eh, nope didn’t like that. Like Nero had the reasons, but I guess they were going for that there is nothing to gain from revenge with this one.

Thinking of that ending. Nero never losed the will to live, even after killing his brother and having his whole family ended. He was always able to still enjoy the life when it was hard, even if he grieved too. Angelo maybe momentarily was but not truly like he almost let himself to have some happy moments sprinkled through but after Corteo he just lost his will. What makes it sad that after this last trip with Nero, I felt like he could actually gain it back. Nero said that he was going to give Angelo reason to live and I felt like he was giving him that, but then it ended with him killing Angelo which both went against Angelo’s revelation that revenge didn’t do anything and Nero’s speech about giving Angelo something to live for. Or are we supposed to take from this that Angelo did regain his will to live, wanting to see the ocean and all and that Nero would only kill him after he had will to live again?

Eh I’m not biggest fan as Angelo was my favorite and I kinda wanted full revenge ending where he burned down the Playhouse after killing Don Vanetti and then had epic battle with Nero. It would been obvious ending, this one wasn’t, but this kinda ending just lefts you unsatisfied. If one of them had to die, I’d have hoped they both would.

EP13/Special:

  • I’m still feeling mixed about the ending, but I’m glad there is more stuff and all the content didn’t end there. Though pretty sure the special doesn’t continue story and instead just gives us more content in the middle of it.
  • I don’t know if I mentioned it already, but I love the OP. Both the music and the visuals. It just sets you up in the right mood for the show.
  • So, Vanetti’s family when they were kids. And Lagusa’s family. Angelo really looks his dad. Nero is lucky to not look like his though… though weirdly Angelo’s dad doesn’t look exactly like him- he looks like mix of Angelo and Barbero lol. But his outfit and also fighting style are similar to Angelo.
  • I had wondered what happened to Vanetti’s mother.
  • Interesting, that Vanetti was the one coming to ask Ganzo for work.
  • So also Orca was part of the coaliation not just Lagusa and Vanetti.
  • Friendship is only reliable tool if there is loyalty..
  • Recently?? Oh this is probably during their escape trip in start of the series. Not after the series, I was confused if they had cheated us and Angelo lived xd
  • Lol Angelo was rly into that blood-letting wasn’t he. And cheapest booze ofc. Gotta say I love his humor with this.

It was rly nice to have this special to end the watch, at least for me as I wasn’t biggest fan of the ending. The past part with Tesla and Vincent got me bit frustrated with Vincent in particular like you clearly had good thing going on there. Imagine good everything could been, between Angelo and Nero too, if only Vincent didn’t betray Tesla. In that sense I’m glad Galassias got punished too, though I’m kinda sad that apparently the new Don didn’t die. But the end with Nero and Angelo was pretty fun and had good bromance moments.

"Give me the cheapest stuff you got" killed me in that special

I was definitely getting more excited to watch the next episode as we got nearer to the end, I mean I enjoyed every episode but since it's not really the kinda anime I go for I wasn't aching for the next episode like I would be with something a bit more up my alley, I had a similar thing with Kaguya-sama actually, I did really enjoy it but I just didn't get into it much while I was watching. I feel like the 2nd half of this anime had enough plot twists and turns to get me engaged with the story to make up for the anime not being my typical style tho. The ending was a little disappointing but I kinda like that? Like it don't matter what character you were routing for, everyone gets fucked and no one's happy, well, I suppose Angelo is satisfied since Nero is the last one standing since Angelo decided he didn't wanna kill him, and after all this time Nero finally pulled the trigger on him like he should have done all those years ago so Angelo didn't have to live on with revenge as the only thing keeping him going.

The ending broke my heart but I still liked it though. I was not waiting for a happy ending to begin with, I guess I just wanted Angelo to survive.
The first time I watched ep. 11 I was so confused like, why Angelo shot Galassia instead of Vanetti and then I understood that Angelo not only wanted to kill Vanetti, he wanted to destroy everything they built up to that point, making all their efforts, including destroying Angelo family worthless at the end.
It made me sad to see how Nero and Angelo could've been really good friends in other circumstances but it was just not possible, Angelo had lost all his will to live even before Corteo's dead, he was too hurt to continue to live on without his family.

Talking about the club, I'm not going to continue because I returned to work so I won't be able to watch on time for the opinion threads.

There was a lot of interest in this project from the start so I think it's just the timing. A lot of people are returning back to school or work after being in isolation so I'd imagine there was a lot of changes to everyone's lives again. Not to mention, not much free time left for most of us. Hopefully more people join in once they all settle down though.

Episode 11 – Another interesting episode. This was also another episode that managed to surprise me. I barely skipped a second in this one too.

“I’ll give Avilio something to live for” lol at the irony. If only he knew that he already was…

Well that was an unexpected turn of events… WHAT JUST HAPPENED AND WHY DID HE KILL THE OTHER GUY?

I’m glad the uncle is dead though.

Oh looks like he did it to start a war? So now the other family is after Vanetti… Smart I guess. He just needed to kill one man and all his enemies are gone.

Episode 12 – this broke the cycle of interesting episodes. I ended up skipping more than half of it again but I guess understandable since it was the last episode and there was only one thing left to do.

It looks like Nero really cares for Angelo which is actually pretty sad. Even after all that he has done, he still couldn’t bring himself to kill him.

OMG after all that he’s back to trusting him again? I can’t deal with Nero seriously.

AND LOL AT THIS BACKGROUND MUSIC. Why does it sound like they’re going on a long happy road trip to their honeymoon destination???

Ok so that’s done. Nero finally killed him.

I expected it. I didn’t want Nero to die and he didn’t. I expected Angelo to die and he did which I’m not upset about since I feel like that would have been the best ending for him. Looks like that honeymoon background music was in a way actually showing them going to a place that will make everything peaceful again. Angelo chose where he wanted to die and got the happy ending he wanted.

I don’t know, I think this is the happiest ending we could have possibly had. I mean, everyone died which was sad but most of them were evil anyway so whatever. I was only sad about Corteo’s death. That was unfortunate.

And I wish we got some sort of ending on Nero too. We know he’s alive and literally the only person in the show alive at that point, but what next?

I guess the good thing is I did get that character development from Angelo. I mean, he was manipulative until the end but he somehow managed to push aside his obsession with revenge and let Nero live.

Overall, this show was pretty meh for me. Episode 10 and 11 were exciting but the rest was really slow and boring. I would give it a 4/10. I felt like it lacked a lot but it also wasn’t bad to the point where I just couldn’t bring myself to watch it. It was the first anime I watched in like 4/5 years though and only like the 4th anime I have ever seen so I don't even have a lot to compare it to. I went in with no expectations at all but the synopsis sounded really good so I was pretty disappointed with how it turned out. I think it was the slow build up though. There was no action until about episode 10 so it felt really boring until then.

The plot aside, I liked the characters a lot. Angelo was an evil genius and although majority of the show was predictable, his actions were not predictable at all. His final action was seriously awesome. I wasn't actually expecting him to let the uncle live but I assumed he would end up just killing him at the end once everything else was done but instead by choosing to kill the other man instead of Nero's father, he erupted a war and ended up achieving his goal without having to do much else himself that night. Seriously that single moment where he killed the other guy was the most exciting and shocking part of the show.

Nero was my favourite character until the end. I don't know, I guess killing Corteo just ruined his charm lol. But I didn't want him to die and I'm glad he didn't. Despite being born in the mafia, he didn't seem like a bad person. He genuinely loved his friends and family. I think his main downside was he was stupidly naive. Like he just started trusting Angelo in an instant and even ignored his friend's warnings. Like I said before, I don't know how he managed to live for as long as he did in the mafia with that attitude. But still, I'm glad he's alive and despite all that happened, like you said he seemed to not be too affected negatively. He'll probably be able to live his life well.

And I think that's all I have to say. I hope if you do another one of these, there's more discussions. I think it would be a lot more fun discussing these with each other rather than just posting our opinions and going.

Tbh, seems like I'm only one whose alley the show was- from those that weren't rewatching anyways but who also didn't like the ending :jisoosmh:

To me the ending just felt unsatifying. I wanted either epic fight between the two in the burning building where they both die in the end or both of them alive somehow. I didn't rly understand the idea of Nero killing Angelo in the end there in that manner and also how he said he would give Angelo sth to live for but then that plot line not rly going anywhere even though it sounded rly important. :dubuthink: Overall I was just feeling bad for Angelo..

Other than the ending I love the show though and I thought it took many surprising turns especially with Angelo's plans.

Angelo was my favorite so I wanted him to survive too. But yea Angelo shooting Galassia was big wtf moment, but I theorized that he also wanted to punish Galassia for using both Vanetti's and Lagusa's himself included as puppets in their plans.

Yea I have to see what I will do with this club thing. I like organizing these, but I also have full time job and it's bit of hassle especially if plp aren't that active and I have to make changes in the middle trying to pull people back in.

I guess the timing of threads and that people just weren't watching also meant less discussion. The thing is that there would be more discussion if I posted thread certain time and we would all start watching the eps then and discuss them but the time zones is big issue with that. I guess if we also did one ep at time there would be more discussions, I'm not sure really. I tried to make this schedule so also people with jobs could watch but people who like to binge could also binge a bit. It's rly hard to balance everything, different preferences in watching, time zones, people who have lot of time to watch and people who don't have much..
